Trip Recount

Kia Ora Bloggers and welcome back to my blog, so this week I am going to be showing you my trip recount about Margaret Mahy. A couple of weeks ago we had a trip to the Margaret Mahy Playground. On our trip we feed the tuna we learned about all of the story's around Margaret Mahy Playground we also went down to Victoria square and we also looked at the Maori Mats.

Here is mine!

On Thursday the 20th of May Tumu hub went to Margaret Mahy Playground.

The first activity we did was we looked at the Māori mats.

We learnt that there were 13 mats all around Christchurch.

Each color on the mats represents something. Next we went to feed the Tuna.

We feed them cat food. There was a huge female tuna at the bottom of the river.

After that we went on a waka. Before we got to go on the waka we had to learn the commands.

We finally got to go on the waka. My group got to go first. The people who worked with the

waka’s pushed the waka out to the river. We started to row down the river.

Next we went to Victoria Square and we learned about all the statues all over the square.

The statues talk about Queen Victoria and Captain Cook.

Our Activity that we had to do was to draw one of the statues in the square.

I choose to do the poe. After that we went back to Margaret Mahy playground and we learned all about the stories about Margaret Mahy.

The stories were carved into the ground all over Margaret Mahy playground .

My favorite part of the trip was the waka because I liked rowing under the bridge and up and down the river.

Something I learnt was that one of the carvings at Margaret Mahy playground is a song.

I also learned that before the 2011 earthquake happened Margaret Mahy Playground was an indoor

swimming pool.

The thing I found the most interesting was that you can feed tuna cat food and mince.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because now I know where a couple of the mats are and I know a lot about them.

Have you ever been to the Margaret Mahy Playground before?
